Different Types Of Google Penalties

Matt Cutts has confirmed that there are different types of Google penalties being meted out to misbehaving sites. In case you’re wondering, “misbehaving” would include buying and selling links that pass PageRank, among other instances that lie in the grey area such as duplicate content.

Matt Cutts was reporting on his “You&A” session at the SMX Advanced 2008 conference. Matt Cutts also said that “PageRank sculpting” is not worth the effort it takes. The time spent “PageRank sculpting” would be better spent on building compelling content.
