Make Money Online With LiveBlogging

liveblogging.jpgOnce used by mostly by sports and political reporters to report live updates on matches or speeches for online readers, LiveBlogging is now being used for other events such as blogging meetups.

It can be used to summarize highlights at business conferences or product launches at tradeshows as they happen for people who can’t attend these events.

It’s much like a live commentary but instead of listening to a broadcast, you read it in a blog as events unfold. You’ll not only get to read details about a product or speech, you’ll also get a feel of what is physically happening at an event with coverage describing what people are doing, much like a narration.

So at MacWorld 2008 next week, you may get to read that “Steve Jobs pulls off the black cover to reveal an aluminium clad mini sub-notebook.” (Ok…that’s my personal wish.)

This can be a great tool for bloggers who are attending blog conferences to give their readers a live coverage of the event. Some tips for making your liveblogging more effective include:

  1. Include related links to the event or speakers at the event.

  2. Add relevant tags to posts.

  3. Be timely with your posts - posts should be published within minutes when a specific event or speech is over.

  4. Sit in the media room and watch the event from monitors instead of in the front row with other attendees since your typing will be distracting.

  5. Prepare ahead of time by using the conference programme usually given out at such events, such as noting speakers’ profiles or including speakers’ pictures in your post.

Bloggers who are good at this can offer their services to participating companies and organizers to give their event wider reach. Needless to say, marketing and advertising opportunities have tremendous potential in LiveBlogging.

LiveBlogging is great. Especially for convention and conference coverage such as CES and e3. Keeps us all informed!
