Blogs For Sale Update

Here’s a list of recent make money blogs sold or currently for sale. Most of those sold continued pretty much where the previous owner left off. Even a blog that had someone’s name as a domain is carrying on quite well.

What is apparent however, is that there is still no formula for determining a blog’s worth. As you can see from the list, high number of subscribers and uniques don’t necessarily guarantee a sale.

A quick visit to each blog reveals that a blog’s content seems to have quite heavy weightage on its sale value. For example, sites like Northxeast, Blogging Fingers and CashQuests which have a strong topic focus, a good number of solid articles combined with a large readership base fetched the highest prices overall. These factors are seen as advantageous for the new owner who can easily continue with the existing content.

Even having someone’s name for its domain, Ryan Shamus managed to sell for a respectable $2,500 with low traffic stats of less than 100 RSS subscribers and 2,000 uniques. The original site had a good collection of articles which allowed the new owner to add on to the blog. Still, it’s a strange decision to buy a blog with someone’s name. Ryan got really lucky.

BlogOhBlog is slightly different from the other make money blogs in that it is more of a Wordpress themes resource blog and no doubt earned its high PR 6 through backlinks from its free themes. The new owner however has done a great job in capitalising on the potential of the blog by having more articles related to making money online while retaining the blog’s free Wordpress theme giveaways.

The same however, cannot be said for CashQuests, the most expensive blog sold. It stagnated for about a week without a single update while existing advertisers were replaced with large slabs of corporate ads for its new owner iEntry.com. The consensus in the blogosphere is that CashQuests is pretty much dead.
