Blogosphere Thoughts On PageRank Downgrade

Blogosphere on PR DowngradeIt’s funny how PageRank was once proudly touted on the advertising pages of big blogs that command $200 per review.

They’d write articles teaching people how to get high ranking just like them but probably never will, and use their high PR to generate hundreds if not thousands of dollars from selling text links and advertising.

Now that these very same blogs have been brought back down to earth by the black October Google PageRank Downgrade, they are saying that PageRank isn’t all that important after all. I have no doubt they would be posting to a very different tune had their PRs risen a notch. They would probably announce that they are increasing their advertising rates now that advertisers are getting more PR bang for their buck.

One after another, they are all saying the same thing – concentrate on building your traffic and RSS feed readers, forget about PR and oh, can everyone please stop talking about PR. Sure, PR matters only when they are in PR6 and 7th heaven.

Ok, I should take their advice, after all my blog is just a lowly PR4. Oh wait, that’s the same as John Chow! Seriously though, there is much we can learn from what happened and here are some excellent posts to read:
