WordPress 2.3 released
WordPress 2.3 has just been launched under the codename “Dexter” after the jazz saxophonist Dexter Gordon. Among the features added in this release:
1. Native tagging support
There is no longer the need to use plugins for tagging. Importers are included to allow you to import your tags from Ultimate Tag Warrior, Jerome’s Keywords, Simple Tags, and Bunny’s Technorati Tag.
2. Update notification
You get notified when a new version of WordPress or its plugins are released.
3. Canonical URLs
Enforces “www” preferences and redirects posts with changed slugs so the permalink is not broken.
4. Pending Review
It allows authors to submit a post for review by an editor or administrator.
5. Advanced WYSIWYG
Allows access to some TinyMCE features.
These new features improve the functionality of WordPress doing away with the use of some plugins and if you’re feeling adventurous, try it out to see if there are any bugs.
